Dr. Thompson received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, magna cum laude.  He went on to receive his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College.  His clinical experience included his fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his residency in surgery at Medstar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.

Dr. Thompson has specialty certifications from the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He also has a faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in Cincinnati, OH.

Dr. Thompson has memberships in National Societies including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons.
