Your Appointment

What do I need to bring the day of my procedure?
- Your insurance card(s).
- Driver’s License or Photo ID.
- A list of your current medications.
- A portion of your procedure payment.
- Leave valuables and jewelry at home.
- Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes.
- Plan arrive at the center an hour and 15 minutes prior to the procedure. You should expect a stay of two to three and a half hours total.
- If you’re younger than 18, you must have a parent or guardian accompany you to sign your paperwork. If you are an adult who is unable to sign the consent, you must have someone with you who is authorized to sign on your behalf.
- Bring the name and phone number of the person (must be 16 years or older with a valid driver’s license) who will be taking you home. You will not be permitted to drive, take a taxi alone or leave the center without an adult chaperone.
Prior To Your Procedure:
- Specific individual instructions from the physician’s office will be given to you before you come to the Center.
- You should not eat or drink anything after midnight on the night prior, unless you are instructed otherwise.
- Upon arrival, all patients are asked to sign a consent form giving the doctor authorization to perform their procedure. Patients under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign the consent.
- Leave all jewelry and valuables at home.
- You will be receiving sedation for your procedure; therefore, you must have a responsible person to be your driver. You will not be permitted to drive for 12 hours after your procedure.
- Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to take off and put on.
- Please bring a list of your current medications, including dosages and how often taken each day.
- Prior to your procedure, we will call to remind you of your procedure and to see if you have any questions.
When You Arrive:
- Please notify the receptionist of your arrival. Your insurance card/Medicare card will be copied and returned to you.
- A nurse will talk with you and record your vital signs, allergies and other patient information.
- An I.V. will be started so that we may give you intravenous medication. This medication will help you to relax and make you feel more comfortable.
- If you are having an upper endoscopy, you will have to remove any dentures or partial plates just prior to the procedure.
- Your family/driver may wait in our waiting room.
After Your Procedure:
- You will rest for a short time in our recovery room before discharge.
- Your physician will discuss results of the examination with you. In some instances, final results will be dependent on the receipt of pathology reports. Prior to discharge, you will receive home-going instructions. Expect to be at the Center for approximately two hours from arrival time.
